BHA (UK) is a UK wide umbrella organisation of Bengali Hindus living in the UK with ancestral
roots to Bangladesh. It has been serving the wider community since 2001, promoting harmony,
community cohesion, and creating better relationships and understanding between members
of different cultures. BHA (UK) has also made focused efforts to ensure that both women and
the younger British-born generation have an opportunity to do their own work through the
creation of their own specific sub-branches: BHA Youth Forum and BHA Women's Group. In
particular, the Youth Forum is now fully active in exploring historical evidence of their roots
and heritage of Bengali Hindu culture.
Due to your active financial and physical support, BHA (UK) has been able to carry out essential
humanitarian work both here and abroad such as food distribution and providing financial
assistance to the most vulnerable groups. I feel proud to remind you that especially during the
COVID-19 Pandemic, BHA (UK) supported the wider community in the UK and abroad which
has been acknowledged by the highest authority – Her Majesty The Queen – who awarded the
British Empire Medal to the Chairman of BHA (UK).
BHA (UK) was formed in response to the massive humanitarian violence against the Hindu
community in Bangladesh during and after the general election in 2001, to raise awareness
abroad and to support the victims morally . Since its inception we have protested against all
the social injustices in cooperation with other organisations, keeping our voice alive through
print and social media platforms as well as organising physical gatherings and rallies.
We are also standing with the victims of social and racial persecution in Bangladesh within
our limited means while also raising awareness and supporting governments and social
initiatives to bring the perpetrators to justice. I salute your active physical and financial
support in these regards.
Unity, Community Cohesion and Progression as a thriving community in the UK is our motto.
Our fellow brothers and sisters are continuously working to meet the needs of the younger
generations and wider community.
The celebrations of our 20th Anniversary in the Midlands will help to bring the community
together from all over the UK, and we hope to create an atmosphere of bonding, harmony,
and joy between the many communities who will be present....
