=MEETING AT WESTMINSTER=
Bangladesh Hindu Association met Jim Shannon MP, chair of the influential All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief on 14 September 2026 to present its fact sheet on the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. Several critical cases were highlighted, including the unlawful imprisonment of Chinmoy Krishna Das and Haridas Chandra Tarani Das (organiser of the Lord Ram deity construction in Gaibandha), and the lynching of Dipu Das.
The meeting was organised by vice chairman, Rabin Paul, with assistance from the BHA Youth Group. Youth Coordinators Rajen Paul and Rity Dam presented various parts of the fact sheet. Bizon Bhattacharjee, Uttam Bhattacharjee, Bappy Dam and Joydip Bhattacharjee amongst other delegates shared their thoughts. Proshanta Purkayastha, chairman, stated that British Hindus are traumatised by the atrocities that are being committed in Bangladesh and urged the MP to raise awareness.
Jim was extremely attentive, took notes and said he would keep in touch with BHA and raise awareness of the persecution faced by Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh.

বাংলাদেশ হিন্দু অ্যাসোসিয়েশন (BHA) ১৪ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬ তারিখে যুক্তরাজ্যের পার্লামেন্টে প্রভাবশালী All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief-এর চেয়ার জিম শ্যানন এমপি-র সঙ্গে বৈঠক করে। বৈঠকে বাংলাদেশে হিন্দুদের ওপর নিপীড়ন সংক্রান্ত একটি তথ্যপত্র (Fact Sheet) তাঁর কাছে তুলে দেওয়া হয়।
বৈঠকে বেশ কয়েকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঘটনা তুলে ধরা হয়। এর মধ্যে ছিল চিন্ময় কৃষ্ণ দাসের এবং হরিদাস চন্দ্র তরনী দাসের কথিত বেআইনি কারাবাস—যিনি গাইবান্ধায় ভগবান শ্রী রামের বিগ্রহ নির্মাণের আয়োজক ছিলেন—এবং দীপু দাসের গণপিটুনিতে হত্যার ঘটনা।
বৈঠকটি আয়োজন করেন অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান রবিন পাল, এবং এতে BHA Youth Group সহযোগিতা করে। যুব সমন্বয়ক রাজেন পাল ও রিতি দাম তথ্যপত্রের বিভিন্ন বিষয় উপস্থাপন করেন। এছাড়াও বিজন ভট্টাচার্য, উত্তম ভট্টাচার্য, বাপ্পী দাম এবং জয়দীপ ভট্টাচার্যসহ অন্যান্য প্রতিনিধিরা তাঁদের মতামত তুলে ধরেন।
BHA-এর চেয়ারম্যান প্রশান্ত পুরকায়স্থ বলেন, বাংলাদেশে সংঘটিত নৃশংসতার ঘটনাগুলো ব্রিটিশ হিন্দুদের গভীরভাবে মানসিকভাবে আঘাত করেছে। তিনি এসব বিষয়ে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে এমপিকে উদ্যোগ নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানান।
জিম শ্যানন অত্যন্ত মনোযোগ সহকারে বিষয়গুলো শোনেন এবং নোট নেন। তিনি জানান, তিনি BHA-এর সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ রাখবেন এবং বাংলাদেশে হিন্দু ও অন্যান্য সংখ্যালঘু সম্প্রদায়ের ওপর নিপীড়নের বিষয়টি সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে উদ্যোগ নেবেন।
